Beautiful Mexican made sterling silver dangle teardrop earrings depicting the Mayan calendar within a malachite outer base. Inscribed upon the back is "MEX 925". The Mayan calendar is a system of calendars used by the ancient maya civilization, and it consists of two main cycles: the 260-day Sacred Calendar (Tzolk'in) and the 365-day Haab calendar. These calendars were used for religious, agricultural, and divinatory purposes. The Haab calendar, a 365-day solar calendar, was divided into 18 months of 20 days each plus one 5-day month. The Tzolk'in, also known as the Sacred Calendar, is a 260-day cycle used for divinatory purposes, with each day having a unique name and number.
