The Story

This listing is for the Large Bronze Sestertius "Securitas Publica" Seated Figure with Globe.  Features a highly detailed, laureate head of Septimius Severus facing right. The emperor is depicted with his characteristic tightly curled hair and a full, luxurious beard, a style he adopted to align himself with the popular Antonine dynasty. The portrait is struck in high relief on a thick, robust bronze flan, showing a natural dark patina consistent with an authentic ancient artifact. The reverse features the personification of Securitas (Public Security), typically depicted draped and seated to the left on a throne. She holds a globe in her extended right hand, symbolizing the emperor's reach and the stability he brought to the entire Roman world. Great Find!!!
